Jessica Martinez is an associate in the Dallas office of Cooper & Scully, P.C. With more than six years of nursing experience, Jessica brings a wealth of knowledge that proves invaluable in her practice in the area of healthcare litigation.
Jessica obtained her Juris Doctor from The University of Texas School of Law in 2024. During law school, Jessica worked as a student attorney ad litem at UT Law’s Children’s Rights Clinic where she represented allegedly abused or neglected children in cases brought by the Department of Family Protective Services and sat first-chair at hearings. Jessica clerked at The University of Texas’ Office of General Counsel. She was the Editor-In-Chief of the Texas Hispanic Journal of Law and Policy for two years. Jessica also served as the President of the Chicano/Hispanic/Latino Law Student Association. Notably, in her third year of law school, Jessica coordinated the first ever Ethnic Affinity Graduation Hooding Ceremony to commemorate the achievements of her fellow classmates.
Jessica obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The University of Texas at El Paso in 2021. Jessica served two terms as the Student Government Association President at UTEP between 2019-2021 where she engaged in policy discussions with the University President and administration team surrounding tuition and fees, student life, and the COVID-19 pandemic’s effect on students and the community. Through her role as Student Government President, Jessica drafted and presented policy recommendations to the University of Texas Board of Regents. Upon graduation, Jessica was recognized as a Top 10 Senior, an honor bestowed on graduating seniors who exemplify the highest ideal academic achievement and leadership.
Jessica is a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). She attended nursing school while completing her junior and senior high school courses and graduated high school with her vocational nursing certification. Jessica has had an active license with the Texas State Board of Nursing since October 2017.
Jessica worked as a Pediatric Home Health Nurse while obtaining her Bachelors and Juris Doctorate degrees. She has provided care to a range of pediatric patients in El Paso, Texas and Austin, Texas.
Jessica is a proud sister of Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys traveling, watching Texas Longhorns Football, attending concerts, and serving her community through various philanthropic activities.
Jessica is fluent in English and Spanish. She is conversational in Russian.
